Services

Optimal treatment of Cleft requires medical specialists from multiple fields to work hand in hand. Accordingly, we provide the following services for Cleft patients at Al Mustafa Medical Center.



  • Pediatrician: is responsible for the nutrition, vaccination and infection control of cleft children.
  • Orthodontist: is responsible for Naso-Alveolar moulding during the first three months of life. Naso-Alveolar moulding reduces the severity of the Cleft in preparation of the Cleft correction surgery, which improves outcomes and may reduce the number of surgeries needed.
  • Plastic surgeon: is responsible for the surgical repair of cleft lip and palate through lip nose revision, cleft rhinoplasty, pharyngoplasty and alveolar bone garft.
  • Speech language pathologist: after successful cleft palate surgery, speech therapy is often needed to improve the quality of speech, since the patients need to learn the proper use of the repaired organs.
  • ENT surgeon treat ear problems, which are a possible side effect of Cleft.
